The Jamestown Area Historical Society (JAHS) is a non-profit organization dedicated to collecting, preserving, and showcasing the historical documents, photographs, artifacts, and other items that tell the story of Jamestown and the surrounding region. Established in 1974, the society operates a museum located at 405 Summit St, Jamestown, PA 16134, which is open to the public free of charge from April through October on Sundays from 12 to 5 pm.
From our beautifully restored historic homes to our iconic landmarks, there are a number of sites to explore in and around Jamestown. Take a guided tour of the Gibson House, visit the Gatehouse at Pymatuning Dam, see the iconic "Arch" which served as a railroad bridge for the Lake Shore & Erie railroad. Explore the area and discover the fascinating local history.
Our exhibits offer a unique glimpse into the history that shaped our community. From our exhibits on local businesses and everyday life objects, to our collections of historic clothing and accessories. We also have rooms dedicated to the history of Pymatuning Lake and the dam; Jamestown High School; and West, South, and Greene townships. There is always something new to discover at Jamestown Area Historical Society.
